Program
A core component of the Judson Undergraduate Architecture program is a four-week semester abroad in Europe. This architectural study tour allows students to experience the cultural distinctiveness of various locations in a way that isn’t possible through a traditional classroom experience. The first two weeks of our tour were spent in Italy, visiting Rome, Florence, Siena, and Venice. For the second half of the semester, we traveled by train into Central Europe, visiting Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, and Budapest. Throughout the tour, we studied historically significant architectural sites through local guided tours, sketching, and watercolor painting. Experiencing these cities firsthand was a lesson in how buildings actually stand the test of time. It gave me a much better sense of scale and a deeper appreciation for how architecture shapes the way people live and move through a city. This is a small sample of the work I produced during my time abroad.
